Fans and family Remember Rufus Thomas

Fan gathered at STAX to celebrate the life of a Memphis music legend.

The great Rufus Thomas died ten years ago Thursday.

Icons like B-B King and Isaac Hayes were front and center for Rufus' funeral at Mississippi Boulevard  Christian Church.

Ordinary folks were there as well to pay tribute to one of the greatest talents the Mid-South ever produced!

The soul singer, comedian, songwriter and W-D-I-A D-J cut some of the first hit records at Sun Studio in the 1950s.

Rufus became a star at Stax in the 19-60s and '70s with smash hits like "walking the dog" and "Funky Chicken."

Rufus died of heart failure at ago age 84.

All of us miss Rufus but none more so than his daughter, recording artist Carla Thomas, his son and keyboard player Marvell and baby daughter and singer Vanese
