Memphis Rocks category added to Memphis International Film & Music Festival | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Characters)
The Memphis International Film & Music Festival showcases some of the finest independent films from around the world in categories of features, documentaries, music videos, and more. And now there's a special opportunity for would-be Memphis film-makers!
Next year's festival, held April 25-28th, will add a new category: "Memphis Rocks." It will be a catch-all platform to share positive stories, heartfelt moments, and narratives that capture the soul of Memphis. You can show what makes Memphis great, or show what your company, neighborhood, non-profit, or school is doing in our community. And maybe your masterpiece will be played on the silver screen!
Films must be five minutes or less, and there will be five sub-categories for judging: individuals, schools, non-profits, corporations, and a viewers' choice award. The deadline for submissions is February 28th, 2013.
Each of the films will be featured on a "Memphis Rocks" YouTube channel where viewers can vote on their favorites. For integrity purposes, there is a submission fee of $25, which will be donated to the MPD Fallen Officer Memorial - in keeping with the "Memphis Rocks" theme and effort.
There will be an assortment of prizes for winners in each category -- so break out your videocamera or smartphone, and visit www.onlocationmemphis.org to learn more and submit your film!
