Four Memphis Museums Among the Nation's Elite

Four Memphis Museums Among the Nation's Elite

The American Association of Museums (AAM) has announced three Memphis museums have received re-accreditation for 2011 through 2026.

The Dixon Gallery and Gardens, The Pink Palace and the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel were accredited during the 2011 review cycle, joining the Brooks Museum which was re-accredited during an earlier review cycle.

The Art Of Family

Dixon Gallery & Gardens helps families explore the "art" of parenting with "Mini Masters" every Tuesday in February.

The workshop is for parents & kids, and is designed for toddlers to get hands-on exposure to shape, colors, textures and more. 

Story time & snack time are included.  "Mini Masters" is free for members & just $5 each week for non-members.  There are discounts for youth & senor citizens.

The Memphis Symphony Orchestra presents Opus One Connections

The Memphis Symphony Orchestra presents Opus One Connections, the first in a series of free community programs open to the public, on January 29, 2012 featuring Latin-Jazz singer Marcela Pinilla.

The event will be held at 3 p.m. in the courtyard beside the carousel of the Hickory Ridge Mall, located at 6075 Winchester.

An offshoot of the popular Opus One series, Opus One Connections helps to make the music art form more accessible to the community through nontraditional music. Opus One Connections combines musical experiences with related engaging activities in a family-friendly setting.

Memphis Monologues Performance

Mid-South women will perform their own Memphis Monologues Thursday February 2nd at TheatreSouth in First Congo Church on Cooper.

There will also be a silent auction featuring local artwork, Ballet Memphis performance tickets and an iPad2.

Doors open at 6:30pm.

Admission is free.

Donations benefit Planned Parenthood Greater Memphis Region.

Chocolate Fantasy

Chocolate Fantasy

You're invited to Come and taste Memphis’ best chocolate desserts, candies, cookies, ice cream, pastries and other chocolate treats from over 30 vendors.  The 27th Annual Chocolate Fantasy benefiting the National Kidney Foundation of West Tennessee will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 from 11:00am-5:00pm at Oak Court Mall.   Enjoy music, entertainment, live auction and games in the Food Court Area.   

 Some of the participating vendors are:  Draper’s Catering, Sam’s Club, Subway, Cookie Florist, YoLo Frozen Yogurt, Brown Baguette Bakery & Cafe, Chick-Fil-A, Crepe Maker, Delta Pecan Orchard, Dinstuhl’s, Wade & Company Catering, Firehouse Subs, Gibson’s Donuts, Godiva Chocolatiers, Just Catering, Makeda’s Homemade Cookies, Carmela’s Caffe, Ciao Bella , Costco, TCBY, Nestle, Blue Bell, Great American Cookies and many more...........

 Tickets are $16 in advance and $18 day of event.
