Wireless internet on its way to Soulsville, USA | Business

(WMC-TV) - Community LIFT was awarded $250,000 from the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) for its Community Digital Advantage Program (CDAP).

CDAP is a LIFT initiative to bring technological infrastructure to the Soulsville, USA community of South Memphis.

Through a public/private partnership and the use of technology, CDAP will increase economic opportunity in one of Memphis’ most storied neighborhoods that has produced many of the city’s civic leaders and the music that helped define a generation.

The goals are to set up a wireless broadband network in the Soulsville community and to market the broadband network as an incentive for businesses to stay in or relocate to Soulsville.

The grant was awarded as a part of the DRA’s State’s Economic Development Assistance Program in partnership with the State of Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
