Man charged with abandoning tied up dogs
A neighbor called police Monday after he found several pit bulls tied up and abandoned in a South Memphis apartment.
Police entered the apartment in the 2400 block of Ketchum and found two dogs tied up inside and found another pair of dogs tied to a backyard fence. None of the animals had access to water or food.
The neighbor told animal control officers the apartment had been vacant since at least October 15 and believed the animals had been alone since then.
Officer tracked down George Wesley Johnson who admitted to owning the animals.
Johnson’s been charged with four counts of animal cruelty.
