Texts, phone calls land man back in jail | Crime

A man is facing more than four dozen charges after he was accused of trying to contact a woman nearly 90 times after he had been ordered not to.

Mark Payne was arrested for domestic violence on September 30. A court ordered him not to contact his alleged victim as part of his bail arrangement.

But, police say the 53-year-old didn’t live up to his end of the deal.

The woman told officers Payne had sent her dozens of text messages and also called her phone dozens of times since his release from jail. In all, police say he made 89 attempts to get in touch with her.

Payne, who is facing nearly 50 counts of violating the terms of his bail, is in jail on $30,000 bond.
