Police: ‘Shoulder Surfer’ behind illegal ATM withdrawals | Crime
(WMC-TV) – Memphis police are looking for a woman who is sneaking peaks at bank customers’ PIN’s and making fraudulent withdrawals from their accounts.
Investigators say for months they’ve been receiving complaints about illegal withdrawals from ATM’s.
Police now say one woman may have been behind many of those crimes.
Christy Randle stands in line at local ATM’s and peers over the shoulders of customers as they enter their PIN’s, according to officers.
Many ATM’s ask customers if they’d like to make another transaction, and these types of machines are the ones “Shoulder Surfers’ can take advantage of.
Police say if customers don’t respond to the machine’s prompts, it gives “Shoulder Surfers” the chance to quickly re-enter the stolen PIN and gain access to their victims’ accounts.
Randle has several outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
If you know anything that can help investigators solve this case, call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH.
