Police: Etiquette lesson lands woman in hospital | Crime

(WMC-TV) – Memphis police say an argument over etiquette ended when a 65-year-old man beat a woman with a handgun Saturday.

The victim and a friend were talking when L.C. Stokes rode up to them on a bicycle near the intersection of Silver Street and Gold Avenue. According to court records, Stokes interrupted their conversation and became angry when the victim told him he should have said “Excuse me,” before butting into their chat.

The victim told officers as she walked home, Stokes rode up to her again and hit her on the head with a silver pistol.

The victim was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

Stokes has been charged with aggravated assault and is being held on $30,000 bond.
