Man accused of using tow truck to steal car | Crime

(WMC-TV) – A Memphis man has been charged for using a tow truck to steal a car and then selling it for scrap metal.

The victim told police that her car was parked in the 700 block of Cavalier Drive when a pair of men lifted it with a tow truck and drove away.

The victim called a South Memphis scrap metal company and was told that her 1999 Ford Contour was at the business, according to court records.

Officers went to the company and say workers gave them the name of the man who allegedly sold them the car. In addition to his name, workers also had a copy of Robert Rockett, Jr.’s driver’s license and his thumb print, court records show.

Rockett has been charged with theft.
