Arsonist causes $30,000 damage to business | Crime
(WMC-TV) – An arsonist caused $30,000 damage to a South Memphis building early Saturday morning and the fire was set just down the street from a city school.
Firefighters received a call about the flames at 1609 S. Cooper St. just before 5:30 a.m. Saturday. Crews said fire was pouring from the commercial building when they made the scene.
The building is located less than 1,000 feet from Magnolia Elementary School.
Investigators say the arsonist set fire to the building’s exterior.
