Man charged with shooting 91-year-old man | Crime
(WMC-TV) - A Memphis man is charged with shooting a 91-year-old man during a home invasion on Poppen near Orange Mound.
Early morning on September 20, 91-year-old Marion Wood was shot in his own home.
Police say Nicholas Ellis came in through an unlocked door, pointed a gun at Wood, and demanded his money.
Ellis and Wood struggled over the gun and Ellis shot Wood one under the left eye. Ellis is accused of leaving the house with $3,000.
On Wednesday, Ellis was arrested on an unrelated theft charge. While being questioned about that case, investigators say Ellis confessed to robbing and shooting Wood during the home invasion.
