Words of non-violence Dr. King spoke in Memphis nearly 50 years ago, and it will ring out again in Memphis when hundreds show up for a town hall meeting on crime.

The national holiday celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday is January 21, but his actual birthdate is January 15.

Tuesday a local civil rights groups will honor Dr. King's birthday with a town hall meeting on crime.

Man accused of assaulting, threatening to kill pregnant girlfriend

A man accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and threatening to kill her and himself is behind bars Saturday.

18-year-old James Reeves is accused of pointing a shotgun at his pregnant girlfriend and threatening to kill her.

She told police the when she begged him to let her leave, he covered her mouth and nose so she couldn't breathe.

He eventually let her go and she admitted herself to St. Francis.

Reeves was arrested Friday and charged with six counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping and two counts of domestic assault.

It happened in the parking lot of the Studio on the Square in Midtown just before 4 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say a man in his teens or early 20s robbed two victims at gunpoint

The suspect was wearing eyeglasses and a dark colored hoodie with red writing.

He was armed with a semi-automatic handgun and was seen leaving the seen leaving the scene in a mid-sized sedan.

Minutes later surveillance video captured the suspect and two others trying to use the victim's credit cards at the Texaco on South Parkway.

A Sam's Club employee has been charged with theft after voiding transactions for customers and allowing them to exit the store without paying for items.

21-year-old Marterrious Delbridge was recorded voiding more than $8,000 between Nov. 5 and Dec. 8 on surveillance cameras and receipts.

MPD arrests man for looking for love in wrong place

A 29-year-old South Memphis man is accused of grabbing a female juvenile between the legs.

ccording to an affidavit of complaint, Scorpio Bell put his hand between the girl's legs and grabbed her.

During questioning, Bell admitted to police he did reach to put his hand between her legs in public but she slapped his hand away.

He told police when he found out she was a juvenile he did not want anything to do with her.

Bell is charged with one count of sexual battery and is locked up at 201 Poplar on $5,000 bond.
