Meat delivery ends with aggravated assault charges

(WMC-TV) – Workers trying to deliver a load of meat to a South Memphis home were threatened at gun point and had their truck damaged when they refused to accept a check, according to court records.

Two workers from Iowa Steak Company made a delivery to a home in the 1000 block of Shawnee in April. However, they refused to hand over the merchandise when the woman at the door tried to pay with a check.

The men later told police she had written three bad checks to the company in the past.

Both watchdog groups have warned us about an unsolicited offer on Facebook pages. The offer:  20 percent cash back if people link their debit cards to their Facebook pages.

I know, I know. Sounds insane, right?

Police: Etiquette lesson lands woman in hospital

(WMC-TV) – Memphis police say an argument over etiquette ended when a 65-year-old man beat a woman with a handgun Saturday.

The victim and a friend were talking when L.C. Stokes rode up to them on a bicycle near the intersection of Silver Street and Gold Avenue. According to court records, Stokes interrupted their conversation and became angry when the victim told him he should have said “Excuse me,” before butting into their chat.

Police: ‘Shoulder Surfer’ behind illegal ATM withdrawals

(WMC-TV) – Memphis police are looking for a woman who is sneaking peaks at bank customers’ PIN’s and making fraudulent withdrawals from their accounts.

Investigators say for months they’ve been receiving complaints about illegal withdrawals from ATM’s.

Police now say one woman may have been behind many of those crimes.

Arsonist sets fire to Orange Mound home

(WMC-TV) – Investigators are searching for the arsonist who set a fire that damaged a vacant home in Orange Mound early Thursday morning.

Firefighters were called to the home at 2353 Enterprise Ave. just before 3 a.m.

Accused purse snatcher gets away with $3,900

(WMC-TV) – A couple is in jail after they were charged with attacking a woman and stealing her purse which contained nearly $4,000 in cash Wednesday.

The victim told officers she was heading to Tippy’s Laundry Mat, 1064 W. Raines Rd., when a man jumped out of a car, attacked her and took off with her purse and the cash inside.

Wanted Pittsburgh men arrested in South Memphis

(WMC-TV) – Two wanted men from Pittsburgh were arrested last week in South Memphis, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

Rahlek Woods and Deron Taylor were wanted for attempted second degree murder, aggravated assault and weapons charges. All the warrants originated in Pittsburgh.
