Church vows to fight gangs | Events
(WMC-TV) - A church will help fight the scourge of gang activity in its community by hosting a workshop for parents and a march down the city's streets.
Memphis Police Director Toney Armstrong will be the keynote speaker at Pearly Gate Church, 531 S. Parkway E., on August 11.
Shelby County Sheriff Bill Odom will be joined by U.S. Attorney Ed Stanton during a panel discussion.
The church expects at least 300 kids to show up for its march through South Memphis after the workshop.
Registration will start at 8 p.m. and the conference will run from 9 a.m. until noon.
