Child Advocacy Center to raise flag for murdered child | News

(WMC-TV) - A local group that fights child abuse is preparing to celebrate the life of a 3-year-old whose father has been charged with his death.
The Child Advocacy Center will raise a memorial flag this Wednesday, July 11 for Maurice Brown, Jr.
“When a child dies in our community as a result of abuse or neglect, the Child Advocacy Center raises the Children’s Memorial Flag,” said a spokesman for the advocacy center. “It is a memorial to the child lost and a reminder of our collective responsibility to keep children safe.”
The Children’s Memorial Flag will fly for one week to honor maurice, Jr., and to serve as a reminder that preventing child abuse should be one of the city's primary objectives.
The memorial for Brown will be held on the lawn of the center, 1085 Poplar Ave. It will start at 10:30 a.m.
Maurice Brown, Sr., has been charged with first degree murder for his son's death.
