City implements heat rules

(WMC-TV) – Memphis officials are urging people to take precautions during the current heat wave.

If your home gets too hot, the city has places you can go to cool off.

Libraries, community centers and senior centers are public places where people can go to escape the high temperatures.

The South Memphis area has several locations that are available:

  • Pine Hill Community Center, 973 Alice
  • Davis Community Center, 3371 Spottswood
  • Gaston Community Center, 1048 S. Third
  • Glenview Community Center, 1141 S. Barksdale
  • Orange Mound Community Center, 2572 Park
  • Riverview Community Center, 1891 Kansas
  • Orange Mound Community Service Center, 2590 Park
  • Ruth Tate Senior Center, 1620 Marjorie St.
  • South Branch Library, 1929 S. Third St.
  • Cherokee Branch Library, 3300 Sharpe
