MEMPHIS, TN- (WMC-TV) - Over 8,000 people are living with AIDS in Memphis and Shelby County.
In observance of World AIDS day, free testing is being offered.
Although Worlds AIDS day is Sunday, Tennessee State Representative G.A. Hardaway hosted testing at three locations. Representative Hardaway said Monday is a part of a year-long series aimed at keeping Mid-Southerners healthy.
"What we want to do today is bring the ability to get information, bring the awareness, raise the awareness bring the testing to the communities that may not otherwise seek it on their own," said Hardaway.
The event also had blood pressure and cholesterol testing.
