Southwest Tennessee Community College won three awards at the National Conference for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 2 Conference for outstanding achievement in marketing communications.

The Medallion Awards ceremony was part of the NCMPR District 2 Fall District Conference, held October 21-24, 2012 at the Omni Oceanfront Hotel in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

NCMPR District 2 is comprised of community colleges in 11 states, along with the Bahamas and Bermuda. The NCMPR District 2 Medallion Awards is an annual awards' celebration honoring the marketing and communication efforts of community college marketing and public relations professionals.

The express service double-decker buses come equipped with free Wi-Fi and power outlets, and offer service to nearly 90 cities throughout America.

 

Actors fill Elmwood for pre-halloween event

Bids come in for Elvis Presley Blvd. revitalization

The Memphis City Council is one step closer to accepting bids on a revitalization project on Elvis Presley Boulevard.

Today, the council discussed its first financial investment in accepting bids to do the work.

Now that area is one step closer to a streetscaping project between Brooks and Winchester roads.

This is just the most recent development in the five-year plan that is supposed to make Elvis Presley Boulevard a livelier, livable, even walkable place.

'Little black dress' fundraiser prepares women to enter workforce

Time to get fancy, put on your little black dress --to impress!

The "Little Black Dress Reception" fundraiser will serve as the precursor to the Dress for Success Upscale Garage Sale.

The Organization helps women prepare to re-enter the workplace by outfitting them with professional clothing for interviews.

Then, they're provided a week worth of clothes once they get the job.

In addition, they provide computer training as well as resume workshops.

Great cause and a deal you can't pass up.

The event is a cocktail reception with food donated from various restaurants and chefs from across the city ranging from Sweetgrass to a Moveable Feast.

The highlight of the evening is the fashion show.

This year's models will be participants from the Professional Women's Group who will be wearing pieces that can be purchased at the garage sale in the weeks followi

Countrywood Neighborhood Sale

Every year, yard sale bargain hunters flock to Cordova, Tennessee for the annual Countrywood Neighborhood Sale sponsored by the Countrywood Neighborhood Association.

On Friday, September 22, the huge yard event will draw crowds from all over the Greater Memphis area and from neighboring states.

Last year the sale was a huge success.  More than 200 residents participated

Rain or shine, the participating vendors will sell their almost brand new or slightly used items from furniture to clothing and televisions to motorized vehicles to make a buck.  Not to mention the local economy benefited as people booked hotel rooms for a few days to stay and visit the grand city of Memphis to shop it’s local stores and dine in local restaurants.
