Memphis City School students got to test their knowledge of Black History Saturday.
The Memphis Police Department's Knowledge Bowl is an old tradition that has been going on for decades.
But this year, the competition zero'd in on black history in honor of black history month.
"Black history is really not taught that much in school. What we want to do is challenge the students to learn more about black history," said Memphis Police Department Lt. Dennis McNeil.
Students from 8 schools were divided into 16 teams.
The high schools that participated were Trezevant, East, Westwood, Northside, Ridgeway, Melrose, City University, Hollis F. Price, Cordova, and Sheffield.
