Countrywood Neighborhood Sale

Every year, yard sale bargain hunters flock to Cordova, Tennessee for the annual Countrywood Neighborhood Sale sponsored by the Countrywood Neighborhood Association.

On Friday, September 22, the huge yard event will draw crowds from all over the Greater Memphis area and from neighboring states.

Last year the sale was a huge success. More than 200 residents participated

Rain or shine, the participating vendors will sell their almost brand new or slightly used items from furniture to clothing and televisions to motorized vehicles to make a buck. Not to mention the local economy benefited as people booked hotel rooms for a few days to stay and visit the grand city of Memphis to shop it’s local stores and dine in local restaurants.

Restaurants warned about bogus inspectors

The health department says fake inspectors are calling to arrange restaurant inspections and then demanding payment for the inspections.

The Tennessee Department of Health is warning restaurant owners and managers of fake health inspectors.

That's not how it works!

Drunk driver caught with four children in back seat

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC-TV) - A Memphis man faces a long list of charges after police day he was caught driving drunk with a car full of children.

According to police records, around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers pulled Wooten over at the corner of Oakland and Gaither. Investigators said he had bloodshot, watery eyes, was slurring his speech, and smelled like alcohol.

Man charged with naked burglary

A 21-year-old man is behind bars after police say he stripped out of his clothes and broke into a woman’s home.

Memphis police say they were called to a house in the 1900 block of Clovia Lane on Wednesday, Aug. 25 because a woman suspected there was a burglar inside the home.

Officers say the woman came home to find a board, which had been covering a broken window, removed. She also found men’s clothes laying on the ground.

Police say when they went inside the house they found Jopl Lovelady naked and sleeping in a bedroom. The woman told police she didn’t know Lovelady.

He’s in jail on $30,000 bond and is facing vandalism and aggravated burglary charges.
